patchin' 2012

yesterday we ventured up to the kohala mountain farm pumpkin patch to pick locally grown pumpkins. while the pacific northwest offers an abundant supply of fabulous patches, it really takes quite a bit of effort to pull off a successful patch on the island. this was the patch's third year in operation, and it was obvious that they have full support of the communities island wide. the patch was expanded from 1.5 acres to 9 acres this year, and also included a fabulously huge corn maze, hay ride, petting zoo, face painting, brick oven pizzas, cotton candy, and farm grown produce. as far as patches go, this years experience really delivered. it was even a bit chilly up on the mountain when we first arrived. although once the sun popped out we were applying sunscreen and pulling out the shades. oh hawaii, you are just always so warm & sunny.

coen's face says it all, the belly is well, um BIG.

this is the corn maze design. we passed this year, i was not up for getting lost in the blazing sun and coen was more interested in the petting farm. but we will be back, next year...plus one!
