we heart papa george!

today is my grandpa's birthday and he is a pretty special guy. i have been thinking about him a lot lately and i feel really blessed to have had him around my entire 30 years of life. i have a million childhood memories that are filled with both him and my grandma, but the most special of all has been watching my son fall in love with someone who has always been so special to me. so in honor of him, i pulled up some picture of coen and papa from the past few years. we love you so much, happy birthday!

who doesn't love sitting in papa's big chair?!

busted!

making sure coen is on the growth chart with the rest of us.

best buddy's...we love you papa!

patchin' 2012

yesterday we ventured up to the kohala mountain farm pumpkin patch to pick locally grown pumpkins. while the pacific northwest offers an abundant supply of fabulous patches, it really takes quite a bit of effort to pull off a successful patch on the island. this was the patch's third year in operation, and it was obvious that they have full support of the communities island wide. the patch was expanded from 1.5 acres to 9 acres this year, and also included a fabulously huge corn maze, hay ride, petting zoo, face painting, brick oven pizzas, cotton candy, and farm grown produce. as far as patches go, this years experience really delivered. it was even a bit chilly up on the mountain when we first arrived. although once the sun popped out we were applying sunscreen and pulling out the shades. oh hawaii, you are just always so warm & sunny.

coen's face says it all, the belly is well, um BIG.

this is the corn maze design. we passed this year, i was not up for getting lost in the blazing sun and coen was more interested in the petting farm. but we will be back, next year...plus one!

hawaii county fair!

we couldn't miss another year at the hawaii county fair! no new animals adopted this year (i whined my way into adopting a kitten last year), but coen did ride his first carnival ride...an airplane, of course

daddy's home!

wes was in denver last week for a federal employee supervisor training (sounds thrilling, huh?). we really really missed him, and i was very glad to get him home and not go into labor while he was gone. but coen reaaaaaally missed him. there were lots of tears all week and when it was time to go get him from the airport he was beyond excited. he made him a sign and even wrote the letters all by himself (i had to spell "love" for him, but he had rest down!). to top it all off, he got a new airplane. daddy was for sure his favorite for the rest of the night.

harvest festival

on saturday morning coen and i headed out to christian liberty academy's fall harvest festival. it was really fun, and really hot. the truth is, this is what fall looks like in hawaii...don't forget the sunscreen!

beach play date!

last friday we had a beach play date with ella, lucy and baby geneva... lucky us!
