we're getting there. where? thru the newborn days. yes, i know they grow like weeds. that someday i will look back a miss these days. blah blah. i love my kids. a lot. but newborns are a lot of work. a lot. and right about now i am looking forward to the next stage. watching her personality develop, her schedule regulate, and being able to hold her on my hip. i love hip babies. so, yes i have been having so much fun tending to marin's every need, but i am not afraid to say that i am looking forward to what is next.

mind you, the same thing was said about coen and by the time he was 5 months old i was begging him to slow down. so goes it.

about our week.

hanging out...

being silly...

c took this picture off our lanai and i thought it was quite pretty. he must have thought so too.

have i told you about marin's webbed toes?
it's hard to capture since she never stops kicking her feet.

a couple phone pictures, cause they are cute.

nine weeks!

week in review: 9

eeeee! this is my first post on my new fancy shmancy laptop. okay, it's not that fancy and i don't even know what exactly it is to tell you. BUT I haven't had a new computer of MY OWN since i was a senior in college...NINE years ago! the coolest part (other than it being all mine) is that it has a touch screen. think ipad, but full functionality of a lap top. once you try it, you will never ever go back to a boring no touch screen again. promise. also, windows 8 is really so cool.

moving on. we were so very lucky that wes got to take off almost a full week around christmas. i think he was totally exhausted and ready to go back to the office after hanging out with us for six days. good thing he went back for two days, and the was home for new years day! i LOVE holidays!

my aunt sent c a gift card to buy a new life jacket for christmas. so we headed down to the mall to pick one out, and then stopped in at coconut island to try it out. marin and i hung out on the shore. have i mentioned that she wants to be held 100% of the time when she is sleeping? my. back. hurts.

andrea, jay & jack (wes' cousins) were visiting the island, and made a day trip over from kona to meet marin. it was so fun that they got to see her while she is still so small. thanks for the visit and the new books!

this is maverick, in case you forgot.

on another trip into town we stopped in at reeds bay so c could get some more life jacket time. wes put him on his surf board and paddled around the bay, so fun! oh, and i hung out on the shore with a sleeping baby attached to me. again.

our morning routine involves coffee, kid snuggles, and lots of chit chat from the little bit.

hello, 2013! what a year we have to look forward to, so many firsts for marin. we were in bed by 10pm on nye, but we did celebrate at a bbq with good friends on new years day. we are looking forward to a great and busy year.

when i was taking marin's 9 week photo this week, i snapped a few goodies that i thought should be shared. she is developing a little personality and becoming interactive with us regularly. i already miss the tiny swaddled newborn, but i am looking forward to being able to do more with her in the coming months.

and big news for the big brother this week, he moved up to the dinosaur class (4/5 year olds) at preschool. this is him being a dino before we left the house yesterday.

eight weeks!

8 weeks on christmas day and big brother wanted in on the fun!

{a very merry} week in review: 8

we spent our first christmas together as a family in our own home. it was very low key, and although we missed our families terribly, it was really nice to not be traveling around with two small children.  i just have to say that i think i enjoy playing santa as much (if not more) as i liked believing in santa as a kid. i could hardly wait for coen to go to bed so wes and i could get everything put together and perfect for christmas morning, while munching on cookies, of course!

as we were walking downstairs to see what the jolly man left i was thinking about how next year, marin will be shuffling beside coen. i may have shed a tear over how happy that made my heart.

he was so good about opening gifts. really sat and played with each thing. we strung it out all morning, while sipping coffee and eating warm cinnamon rolls. santa delivered "an aircraft carrier with metal jets" just like he asked for. score!

santa didn't forget about our littlest, he brought her this adorable rag doll.

it was a very wonderful hawaiian christmas, indeed.

last week we had our playgroup over for a christmas celebration with the kiddos. everyone brought a wrapped book to exchange. my dear friend emily has a baby girl, geneva that is only a couple months older than marin. she also has a 3 year old, lucy whom coen really adores. to top it off she was one of my nurses in the hostpital when marin was born! what a special lady!

if i think about it too hard i think the idea of sitting on a old man's lap at the mall is creepy. i kind of wish that there weren't mall santa's, and that the identity of the jolly man himself was more of a legend. but coen really wanted to go see santa, and his eye seriously light up with magic when he did. and i decided that i have to let it go, and remember that to coen it is all very real and very special.

soooooo, we loaded up and went to the mall and it was all very cute. after the visit we headed to hallmark to pick out a new ornament for each kid, a fun new tradition to conitue through the years.

 cute little cupcake!

and good old hallmark didn't let us down, they thankfully had an airplane ornament for our little pilot.

we hope that wherever you are this holiday season, you enjoy the many blessings around you. as i reflected on how much i missed my family and friends i was reminded that no matter where we are or who we are with, we have a savior to celebrate. hallelujah!
