the week before easter we had loads of festive fun with friends. y'all know that i l-o-v-e me some holidays. always have. always will.

 

 

our wednesday visit to the farm included a massive egg hunt.

lily kept me company while i was up late prepping an easter activity for the kinders. also she enjoyed all the crumbs i dropped.

every thursday the kinders spend time with their 5th grade reading buddies, and for easter they had a super fun egg hunt. good friday is a state holiday in hawaii, so after a fun day of celebrating at school we were off for a long easter weekend in oahu!

 



december happenings

most of december was full of holiday themed happening, but we did have a few moments of normal day to day that is worth giving a shout out to. for the most part we have been going back up to coen's farm school to visit every wednesday. one of aunty mae's goats had babies and they had to be bottle fed, which in turn made them very friendly and pet like. the kids loved giving them bottles and coen was a natural goat wrangler. if baby goats stayed baby goats forever, i would have one. cute overload.

early-ish may

the entire month of may was a complete blur for me. probably for all of us. we sold our house, looked at 25 different houses with hope of buying, found no new house, moved into a rental, graduated coen from preschool, and hosted guests. we probably did even more things, but those are the highlights. thank goodness i was snapping pictures along the way, because it was a month that i can look back on and wonder how we even survived it. i can already say that we are better for it. life has slowed down and simplified tremendously, which was our original goal. here are some pictures from the crazy whirlwind of early may.

class of 2014

on may 30 coen graduated from moon garden farm school. gah. i can't even begin to tell you how much we love aunty mae and her school. i often refer to her school as "magical" and it was nothing short of that. the love and learning that went on over the past year surpassed any expectation i had going in. individually coen learned so much. however, the biggest joy to us is that he learned to be an active part of a learning community. it was a blessing and a gift that coen was able to be a part of the 2014 graduating class at moon garden farm school.

i will be honest. i cried 3 times that morning of graduation, before i even dropped him off. i was not sad because he is growing up. i am so very thankful that he is strong, healthy, and growing. but i will say that i was very sad to say goodbye to a very special season of life. if i could keep him at farm school forever, i would. but i know that God has great things for this boy, and i know that i can't simply freeze time. (even if kind of i want to!)

the graduation program was exactly perfect. the whole group preformed some adorable songs. each child memorized a shel silverstien poem, and then the graduates each presented a thesis presentation on a topic of their very own choice. after the presentations, they changed into caps and gowns and each received their diplomas. there may have been a few tears, okay a lot. but all from the audience, the kids rocked it. such a reflection of how safe they feel at farm school.

coen chose metamorphosis for his thesis. he created his poster board, and presented all the facts. he even took questions at the end. we are so proud of you, coen!
