island road trip

we ordered a new crib for marin from a children's store in kona and needed to retrieve it. so we loaded up one friday and took a little trip all the way around the island. we headed around the south side since it takes a bit longer, it gave coen a chance at a longer nap. lucky us, he slept the whole way! after grabbing the crib we headed out to the beach and wes did some surfing while we played in the waves and sand. then we headed north, hit the big island brewhaus in waimea, and transferred  coen to his bed when we got home. success!

surfin'

a couple weeks ago (yes, i am once again behind on updates, but i am growing a human) we headed out for a day at honolii. coen's confidence in the water these days totally amazing me. (time to get him in swim lessons!) anyway, it was another really great day to hang out on the beach, picnic, and surf some big waves.

he surfs

it took wes just about a year to purchase a surf board and get serious about his newest extreme sport. he has surfed a few times since we moved to the island, but now he is serious. he used his bday money to buy a used board from a co-worker/surfing buddy and even built a snazzy surf board rack in the carport. actually he built two racks, just in case he needs another board (i told you this was serious). 

while i was cooking dinner last week these two were in the living room practicing their surf moves. of course wes is the perfect human surf board for coen. surfs up.
