kona break

we have just returned home from a week on the sunny side. it was the longest we have spent in kona, and also the first time we have stayed right smack in town. we had a blast, obviously. here is a look at what we did.

so much pool time. marin has not one once of fear in her little body. none.

lunch break nap and walk thru town.

dinner at kona brewing company.

beaching it at king kam beach.

more pool time, and more beaching.

sunset silliness with this guy.

hey mom, do you want to come on my airplane? love wings!

morning of departure...more pool and coffee with whip.

crash

the crash. it happened when we came home from our winter tour and it happened yet again after we finally settled in from our summer vacations. a total and complete monster took over our sweet child and turned him into something we could not even recognize. why am i telling you this? because i need to remember the next time that it passes quickly, and soon the silly little soul comes beaming back. some notes from the past week:

a 6 week hiatus from our normal routine is just asking for a total need to reprogram.

all reprogramming will be fought, to. the. death.

he is stubborn and very much willing to stay awake from 2:30am to 6am, just to get what he wants.

bad parenting happens. let it go, move on.

rewards and incentives ALWAYS work. so skip the bad parenting stuff, and go straight to an incentive chart.

the monster, the sleepless nights, the outright terror, i am just smitten for this little guy who is trying so hard to have control in this big crazy world.

despite his efforts to read books ALL night and not sleep, he will eventually fall asleep.

oahu!

since we had to fly to oahu to check in on baby2 we decided to make a mini-vacation out of it. and since we have family friends that live in honolulu, it was easy to get away for a few days. here are a million pictures from our quick trip. we already want to go back.

the beautiful city, and some pretty cool dudes.

while wes was golfing with the guys, coen had a morning out with mama at the aquarium and of course some shopping. helllllllo, babygap! it was a win-win for both of us.

coen walked smack into this fish tank at full speed. he had a goose egg to show for it. it was both sad and funny at the same time.

being three is a lot of work, good thing this palm tree was here for a rest break.

after a morning in the city, we drove to the north shore to spend the rest of the weekend at a beach house. i enjoyed the scenic drive while coen slept. we spent the weekend relaxing...and playing with coen, he has yet to learn about relaxing. it was magnificent. did i mention that we want to go back?
