5 little pumpkins!

playgroup - halloween cupcakes!

at playgroup last week we decorated halloween cupcakes. of course it was a hit, and we ended up with a houseful of sugar high kids running around. it was fun, it was festive and this week we are decorating pumpkins!

big brother business

we have been busy at work putting together marin's room and mr c has been really very helpful. he loves hanging out in her room, helping us with whatever it may be. his most favorite thing is when ups or fed ex delivers a package. he doesn't even seem bothered that it isn't for him, he is just happy to talk to the delivery person. he always tells them, "ok i will go in and order something else so you will come back." good thing he doesn't have my credit card number! 

so the room is really pulling together and is just so sweet and precious i can barely stand it. but that is not what this post is about. here are some pictures of the big brother in action.

being that c was so concerned about the artwork in marin's room, we worked together (although mostly him!) on this little canvas. he is so proud of it and loves seeing it up on the shelf in her room. 

at breakfast this week c climbed over and started singing to my belly. he also gave me a few raspberries and giggled uncontrollably. he is already such a good big brother, and we look forward to seeing him in action! 

island road trip

we ordered a new crib for marin from a children's store in kona and needed to retrieve it. so we loaded up one friday and took a little trip all the way around the island. we headed around the south side since it takes a bit longer, it gave coen a chance at a longer nap. lucky us, he slept the whole way! after grabbing the crib we headed out to the beach and wes did some surfing while we played in the waves and sand. then we headed north, hit the big island brewhaus in waimea, and transferred  coen to his bed when we got home. success!

surfin'

a couple weeks ago (yes, i am once again behind on updates, but i am growing a human) we headed out for a day at honolii. coen's confidence in the water these days totally amazing me. (time to get him in swim lessons!) anyway, it was another really great day to hang out on the beach, picnic, and surf some big waves.

three point five years!

it's true. we officially have a three and a half year old living with us. and just when i thought i couldn't possibly love him any more, he finds a way to enter yet another "cutest stage ever" phase and i start to wonder how i will ever let him grow up and move away. he tells me all the time how next he will be "4, then 5, then 6, then 7, then...." and he keeps counting and i feel myself panic. when i ask him to stop at 5, and not get any bigger than that, he responds with a "but i have to get bigger so i  can fly you places on my airplane. i will fly you everywhere. even to the moon, and we will have a picnic." and then my heart melts and i want to scoop him up in my arms and hold him so tight that maybe time will stop. 

but the funny about time is that it always keeps moving. and surely isn't going to slow down for the sake of my emotions. and the thing is that wanting him to stay small isn't healthy either. my purpose is to raise him up, to teach him and equip him to be a strong & confident husband, father, son, uncle, friend and most importantly a man of God. and oh geese, when i start to think about that i could begin to panic under the pressure of "are we doing enough?" but then he rolls in on his trike with two (pretend) sandwiches, one for me and one for him. and i breathe, and i am thankful, and i am humbled. and i hope that i never, ever fully forget these day, because they are just so sweet.
